"This house was so adorable! We were running extremely late do to a change in our flight but the owner stayed up to greet us. She showed us around the village and where the stores were. "We had a wonderful stay at the Rafkos mansion. Stelios the owner took us wherever we needed to go and we had delicious meals at one of the local restaurants. It would be wise to have a car because it’s in a village about 30mins. from Heraklion. Stelios is the definition of Greek hospitality! "

"Stunning property in a newly restored old house. Beautiful, spacious and well-appointed room. The common areas were comfortable and there was a lovely balcony. The breakfast which was beautifully served on the balcony was beyond compare. Local, fresh, and delicious Cretan treats. Archanes is close to Heraklion and the palace of Knossos and had plenty of dining options. We were in Greece for three weeks and our night at Carpe Diem was probably our best stay. Can’t recommend highly enough. "

"My husband and I have both traveled internationally but neither of us have ever experienced the type of gracious and considerate hotel staff. Each and every one we encountered was amazing. This was really proven when my husband, who has heart problems, had to be taken to the hospital. They arranged a car to take me (while my husband was in the ambulance) and deliver both of us back home upon release. This was our first visit to Crete, for our 30th anniversary and we could not have been more pleased with our accommodations. "
