"Nice little place in very good location. 50 yard walk to water front Alii Street full of good restaurants. Very popular place. Would have been nice to have a table to eat at. I always found a place to park but parking is difficult. It is what it is. There was a $270+ fee added to my charge that I was not made aware of at time of booking. Otherwise it was a pretty inexpensive place to stay in an expensive destination"

"Great hotel in the heart of Kona! Walkable to Kona Brewery, shopping, and more. Parking was paid but super convenient at the hotel. Rooms were large, clean, and had great amenities. Breakfast was the perfect way to start the day and every staff member we interacted with was kind and professional. We'll be back on our next trip to Big Island!"

"Mostly very clean, except sliding glass doors. Would have cleaned myself but no cleaning materials on site. Wanted to love this place. We have stayed in other units but were delighted to find a first floor unit. The good: well equipped, comfortable, plenty of towels, and beach stuff. Nice patio area. "Decent hotel. Private beach good for families with kids. Good location by the city center and close to airport Downsides: exorbitant parking fee of 35$ and destination tax of 22$ which adds up. The hotel luau (island breeze) was quite expensive but Food at island breeze luau was bad. "

"Great little hotel right on the water. Manager Jim was fantastic, friendly, and attentive. Fairly close to good restaurants. Parking is very small and tight, if you have a mid size or larger vehicle, good luck parking here. You will have to park across the strret. Pool was clean. Water pressure is low. Overall, great place, would stay again."

"This property was really nice and close so that you could walk to restaurants and stores. Very clean and quiet. Only two suggestions....1. Update pillows and possibly mattress. 2. New procedure to open gates and doors is a 6 digit code. This is to help with security. But kids has access to the grounds and also can reach over the door and open it without the code. Not as secure as it should be. "

"This was the perfect location for our stay. We were a 1 mile drive from Magic Sands Beach and 1 mile drive to local shopping, dinning and entertainment! While we chose to drive everywhere, the location is totally walkable to all the attractions. Also, before booking I read reviews, and apparently other condos do not have AC. This one DOES have AC. Which was a nice surprise. Parking was effortless with lots of spaces available. Communication with the owner was easy. One more thing to note- they...

"We found The Big Island Rereat to be just as good as the pictures! It was easy to find right off Ali'i drive. Check in and out were both very easy. We stayed in the Ocean View room which was just as advertised. There is no AC which is in the room description so there was no surprise. Ceiling fan and to other larger standing fans kept the air moving through the room. There is a common area which has beach chairs to use and some snorkel gear and boogie boards as well and an outdoor kitchen with 2 BBQs and full sized fridge for anyone there can use The only challenge on the property was the parking. There is enough parking for the rooms, it's just a little tight especially if you wnat to back-in. I would suggest Not renting a large SUV. Overall the facility worked out perfecly for our vacation."

Cue the whales!!

"The staff were professional and kind. The property was located on the water and the view was outstanding!! My unit was clean and I felt very safe. Every unit within these places may be slightly different, mine was dated, lacking some kitchen pieces (tongs and sheet pan, and my bed was so soft my back sunk in. Don’t read too negatively into those observations…..I was thrilled to be there and eating and sleeping were not issues!! The balcony was phenomenal, overlooking the ocean (cue the whales!). The pool and hot tub were a fun evening gathering spot for others staying at the Hotel. Grocery store was 2 miles away and a convenience store with essentials and liquor was right next door. "
