「My wife and I decided to spend our 23rd wedding anniversary in Galena. We haven’t been to the area since middle school for field trips/school ski trips etc. we live about 2.5 hours away so it was a nice scenic drive. 「As I had found that this property was once owned by my 3X great granduncles I was fascinated by the history and walked in their footsteps. As I descended the original, narrow stairs with the low hand rails I imagined the original women in their high button shoes and hoop skirts more gracefully than me maneuvering them daily. 「IlWe went in the office season and literally had the entire house to ourselves. We had our own designated room but all the other guest rooms were open and it felt like being in a home and not a hotel. The bed was comfortable with plenty of blankets and nice pillows. Every room has a gas fireplace to provide heat. The whirlpool tub was outstanding. Breakfast was included and some of the best food I have had. So much good, we never went away hungry.
