"The hotel is simply beautiful, very nicely decorated and centrally located within walking distance to all sightseeing sites. Our room looked to the square with amazing view of the main square and the river. We learned that the hotel was renovated 4 yrs ago and lobby is very impressive with half million little mosaic squares that simulate the biblioteca Joanina. The breakfast was very complete and served on the roof top with outside and indoor sitting. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The staff and especially Mark were very friendly and accommodating. They kept our luggage when we arrived before the check in time so we could enjoy the town and after checkout as well. When we had two hours to kill before our train departure, we were still able to use the roof top. He also gave us great restaurant recommendations. The room walls and bathroom and showers and even the sink were decorated as we were in the library. Overall, we loved the hotel, the staff, the breakfast and location. You will not be disappointed! "

"This hotel was very clean and modern. The rooms were generous but not large - absolutely sufficient for two people for a couple of days. We were happy that the pool was open, but woud have beenhappier ifit had been heated even a little bit. All of the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was very good and quite extensive, with enough options for picky eaters. We enjoyed our stay and would gladly stay again."

"Wonderful experience in this fabulous old palace. Stunning public rooms and gardens. The staff were superb. Restaurant was very good, also a very good buffet breakfast. We upgraded to a larger room with a view of the forest. Only slight issue was the lack of a fridge and safe in the room. Plenty of parking and easy to find."
