A pair of historic buildings hosts many of the city’s cultural highlights, from art exhibitions and launches to lectures and parties.

Resplendent auditoriums and halls adorn the interior of the Stockholm City Conference Centre, in the heart of Stockholm. Art exhibitions and activities often light up this cultural beacon comprising both the Norra Latin and Folkets Hus historic buildings. Check the conference center’s schedule for intriguing displays and events year round.

Book an English-language Art Tour for the chance to study some of the conference center’s extensive collection. It focuses on 20th-century Swedish works as well as monumental pieces from the 1960s. Chat with the friendly docents about the architectural features and origins of the buildings.

Consider the intriguing history of the Norra Bantorget plaza that sits between the two buildings of the center. The nation’s Social Democrat Party and other factions of the labor movement gathered here for many years.

The Folkets Hus stands on the location of a former prison, while Norra Latin was constructed on an old garden and initially served as a school with a focus on Greek, Latin and classical studies. Admire the neo-Renaissance style of Norra Latin this one-time school re-opened as a venue for concerts and exhibitions in 1989.

Note that the two buildings have a combined total capacity of 4,000 people. Rent one of the rooms for your own personal party or event. Try the themed tasting of wine, whiskey, chocolate or cheese, or go on the Gameshow activity, where you and your friends can take part in a quiz show. Tours can last 20, 40 or 60 minutes, depending on your choice.

The Stockholm City Conference Centre is on the northern side of the Norrmalm district in the city center. Arrive at the Stockholm City Station from where it’s a 5- to 10-minute walk north to reach the conference center. You can also travel to the nearby Hötorget station. Visit some of the surrounding gems, such as the Casino Cosmopol Stockholm, the Strindberg Museum and Tegnérlunden Park.
