Enjoy a laid-back vacation at the splendid beaches and resorts of this coastal town. Discover the fishing villages and historical landmarks of Bantayan Island.

Revitalize your mind, body and soul at the magnificent beaches of Santa Fe. Escape the crowds at isolated stretches of white sand, go snorkeling in perfect-blue water and catch a boat to tropical islets. Santa Fe is one of the three principal towns located on Bantayan Island. It sits at the island’s southeast corner and is within easy reach of its other attractions.

Days at Santa Fe revolve around splitting your time between the beaches and the inviting water of the Visayan Sea. Go for a gentle stroll along the powdery sand, uncover secluded coves and cool off with a rejuvenating swim. The town’s main beaches are Paradise Beach and Marciaban Beach. Visit the subterranean pool at Ogtong Cave.

Organize snorkeling and island-hopping trips with the local boat owners. Popular destinations for boat tours are Hilantagaan Island and Virgin Island, two islets home to more fabulous beaches. Bargain with the guides to get a discounted price.

Bantayan Island is only about 10 miles (16 kilometers) long and has flat terrain. Rent a bike or scooter and ride along the quiet island roads. Stop at humble villages to see locals fishing for crab, the island’s livelihood.

Travel to Bantayan town, on the west coast. Peek inside St. Peter and Paul’s Church, which shelters the remains of a parish church established in 1580. Browse the clothing, fresh produce and handicraft stalls at Bantayan Public Market. Sample seafood dishes and barbecue chicken at the food stands.

Head north along the coastal roads to the town of Madridejos. Spot the remains of a fort at Kota Park. Walk out along Bontay Boardwalk to see Madridejos Lighthouse.

Reach Santa Fe by catching a ferry from Hagnaya Port, on the northwest coast of Cebu Island. Flights also operate between Bantayan Island and Mactan-Cebu International Airport. After a day of adventure, retreat to the comfort of one of the town’s welcoming hotels, self-catering apartments and waterfront resorts.
