"I really loved this retro hotel on top of the mountainside. I had the mysterious looking onsen all to myself several times around 9-10 pm and it was so cool. The view is amazing and the food was very good. Just know that you are really in the countryside and to get to Onomichi it is going to take at least an hour using public transit. "What an amazing way of making the Shimanimi Kaido Route more enjoyable. Don’t ever doubt it and split your route in two days just to enjoy the place. Amazing rooms (it looks great in photos but the rooms are even better once you are there), BEAUTIFUL facilities and onsen with carefully curated design and really helpful staff."

"It was my 50th birthday treat with my parents. They both likes the hotel and enjoyed the stay. My mum thinks she would bring her friends next time. "

"When is a resort not a resort? In this case, when it doesn't provide any facilities outside the room. There's a rooftop bar in summer but nothing at other times. Staff were pleasant but breakfast was limited and when we asked for a second cup of coffee we had to pay for it. The room is large but was taken up by 4 double futons and a massive hanging screen for projecting TV/video. We felt it was intended for a large group who wanted to watch DVDs all day. "Nice stay overall. Clean rooms and friendly staff. Located at train station (but did not hear trains for most part) so convenient and also easy walking access to shops and restaurants. Smallish rooms all three of ours had steps right at the entranceway which made it awkward for luggage. That said I noticed most of the other rooms did not appear to have this. Breakfast was great too. "

"The kaiseki dinner and breakfast were the highlight of our stay. Our room had a nice view of the sea, beds were very comfortable, and i had a good sleep. The hosts were very welcoming and gracious. This location was on the Shimanami Trail, right next to the shotengai, and across a ferry landing. Very quiet and charming place."
