The staff was very nice and helpful. Our room was nice. You get what is expected for $59. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was clean, and the floors had just been updated to wood vinyl instead of carpet. Our room had almost all the amenities of a “big name” hotel. It was quaint, no extra shampoo, but they did provide bars of soap. The tv was not a smart tv so it only had 5 available channels to watch. We made due with our devices and was able to find a NCIS marathon. The only 2 things I really have a complaint about is the smell of weed and the hotel layout. The smell of weed was so overwhelming. It was in the lobby, the hallway, and it even seeped into our room around midnight so I’m guessing our neighbors were smoking. The hotel layout makes it look like the hotel was once a hospital. There are large double doors separating the lobby from the rooms, and the hallway is not very forgiving. We would check around corners to make sure no one was standing there before we went down the next hallway. That was just a personal safety precaution. All in all, it was a good place to stay. The location was very nice for our visit to SFA and we were only 20 minutes away from Lufkin. We would stay there again if we needed to.
