"Unique and beautiful, also great breakfast. Nice to hear the locals talk in the morning. Wish the cafe space was still open, but hope it comes back someday. "Pet Friendly, but if you fail to declare your pet at check-in, they charge you $100.00. After our first night, they swapped out the towels but did nothing else, I.e., replenish cups, trash, make bed, etc. After the second night, nothing was done, not even fresh towels. It appeared the room had been untouched. And it was not a busy time for the motel."

People say that Mid America is the most boring to drive through. I half heatedly disagree. Driving expressway, your right, but, get off the freeway, take a highway. It becomes one of the best places to drive. Big fields, old farms, old houses, Amish, green fields, and fences. New things every half mile. I was fascinated how driving through the same thing, farms, could still be new and interesting for hours. Best part...you can average 65 😉 or better. Only 10 miles below expressway speeds. So get off the expressway, find a parallel highway and enjoy rural America.
