The costumer service was outstanding. The staff spoke plenty English to assist with any issues. The room was very outdated and needs some good repairs. The bed was torn and very uncomfortable. The hotel is within walking distance of many places. Including the river walkway, restaurants, bus stations etc. They do sell day passes for bus/metro at the hotel. The room overall lacks updates... and slightly better cleanliness.

Good for one night, if really needed
The hotel was busy, had only 2 rooms left. I ended up with a old smoking room, that hadn't been fixed yet. Almost all of the hotels will be going to non-smoking. If you really need a room, for a cheap price, this would be it.

Okay for its price.
"You get what you pay for." I'm not saying it's bad, but it's nothing fancy. For its price being only slightly higher than those capsule hotels and guesthouses/hostels, it does its job as a hotel. The lobby was old, but clean. The staffs were nice and helpful. The female staffs could speak English quite well, but not so much the males. The room was fine for a solo traveler like me. It is a typical Japanese single bedroom size, with JUST enough space for you to stand and turn. The room was pretty old but not creepy-old. The bathroom was extremely small, but it's expected in Japan, so it didn't bother me so much. The bed was comfy enough for an exhausted me. The wifi in my room was fast and stable. They had a vending machine selling those 1-day bus passes, which I find quite convenient (though I am not sure if they also have it in other hotels as well or not). Overall, as long as you are used to the Japanese room size, I think this hotel's not bad. It is old, definitely, but for this price and having your own private room and bathroom, I wouldn't complain. The location was good enough, being only 7-8 min walk from the nearest subway station (Kiyomizu-gojo). Plus, there are several bus stops located very close to the hotel, meaning no matter which direction you're heading, there's a bus for you.

Room and bathroom were tiny. Style is dated but beds were comfortable and hotel was quiet. Extra pieces of loose carpet under beds were gross; why are they there?

Easy reach to Kyoto station
Stayed one night. Made payment on the day of arrival. Friendly prompt. Room was bigger than we expected after staying in other hotels in Japan. We took taxi to and from hotel after departing our train from Kyoto station. It is couple of minutes away in taxi and it's only ¥600. Rooms were clean and bathroom was cool. Yes it's small but every other hotel we stayed in had smaller bathrooms. I would definitely return to this hotel. The wifi was available even in the 7th floor rooms.

Don't do it
Our hotel room smelled horrible, everything was mouldy, we couldn't air the room out over our stay, the bathroom was badically a port-a-loo. Everything was very, very old. The location is quite good and although it's cheap, I would never stay there again.

Not very clean
There is no onsite parking, it's blocks away. The beds were pretty stiff. The rooms were old and to me, a bit gross. There were random old cut large pieces of carpet shoved under the bed that was poking out from underneath. The carpet didn't even extend under the beds, it was just concrete, and the floor felt damp and old. The bathroom was the size of an airplane bathroom with no fans/ventilation. Overall, it sucked, i felt gross staying there, and i would never stay there again, nor would i recommend it to anyone. Only plus to the place was that it was in a decent location.
