"Christina at check in went above and beyond what I expect at a hotel check in. She gave lots of good advice. My room was very quiet and comfortable. The location is central, with several choices of restaurants within 200 metres. The hotel is located in the old part of town but I felt safe walking around at night. I will stay here on my return trips to Funchal."

"Great central property, within easy walking distance to restaurants, parks and shopping areas. They offered one of the best breakfast buffets I have had in a hotel, lovely touches in room over the Christmas period. Room was well appointed, but bathroom showing a bit of wear and tear. The shower pressure was great though. Most of the reception staff were friendly. The restaurant attached to the hotel was really nice. Overall, a great stay and would come back again."

"This really is a 'leading hotel of the world'. I've been privileged enough to stay in some top hotels around the world and this was one of my favourites. Pristine inside and out. The pool area is stunning. Great bars and dining options. I liked the Galaxia Sky Bar which has fantastic views. Within a very short walk there are some nice restaurants and bars around the hotel. "Fantastic hotel in a great location that was close to harbour, shops and restaurants. Located in a quiet road. Lovely, well equipped room and excellent breakfast. New Year’s celebrations were outstanding and we especially enjoyed being able to view the fireworks on the roof garden, with free drinks and food provided. All of this was enhanced by a wonderful staff team. A great stay."

"The staff were absolutely wonderful and the room was extremely clean, large, and comfortable. The breakfast was fantastic and I will absolutely stay here again for my next trip to Funchal. Was able to walk to Old Town shops and the boardwalk within 10-12 minutes and could have used the bus stops if I had needed."

"Beautiful propert and grounds/gardens in particular. True 5 star, staff and service lovely - organised several trips for us. Only thing - and it’s personal opinion - was that the menus for breakfast, lunch, dinner were not always to our taste and there were often better and cheaper options in Funchal. We tended to eat from the breakfast buffet rather than table menu which we enjoyed b much. None of the above should dissuade you from staying there. I would say it’s one of the best hotels...

"A very welcoming hotel with friendly and helpful staff . All areas are spotless and rooms spacious and comfortable. The grounds are immaculate and there is one heated pool . Very much appreciated in the winter months ! The hotel is in a convenient position with a short downward walk into Funchal and also benefits from certain areas within The Savoy Palace . Breakfasts delicious .. I could not fault this hotel and would definitely recommend. We will return ! "

"Ana “ morning buffet “ Fatima front desk and another Venezuelan lady “ worked at the front desk with Fatima “ were professional , fun to talk to . This is my fourth time to Madeira but first time staying at this property . I will definitely stay here again and recommend it to others . Very convenient, walking distance.
