If you visit Exmouth and the Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia between May and August you've got a great chance to see humpback whales as they migrate north from the Antarctic. We were incredibly lucky enough to be snorkelling during a whale shark encounter trip when a humpback and its calf swam past within two metres of us.
