Easton’s Beach is a great destination for old-fashioned beach fun. The spacious surf beach has been a local favorite for generations and has a wide range of attractions for a full day of fun. Surf the rolling breaks, relax on the sand or walk along the beach and admire the views of the foreshore’s historic architecture from the boardwalk.
Stretching 0.75 miles (1.2 kilometers) along the narrow land bridge that spans Easton Bay, Easton’s Beach receives clean sets of waves that roll in from the Atlantic Ocean. Check the surf and take the plunge into the ocean waters. Rent boogie boards, beach chairs and sun umbrellas from the beach’s concession or reserve a beach cabana for your family for the day. Spend some time relaxing under the shade and watching keen surfers tackle the waves. Families with young children can swim in the designated swimming areas that are patrolled by lifeguards.
The beach has plenty of pleasant walks that showcase the coast’s magnificent ocean scenery and heritage architecture. Wander along the foreshore to the Cliff Walk or make your way along the charming boardwalk. Kids will love riding on the original 1950s carousel. The Save the Bay Exploration Center and Aquarium is a fascinating spot for children to learn about the coastal ecosystems that flourish in these waters. Stop by the glamorous Rotunda Ballroom to admire the beachfront building’s architecture.
Grab something to eat from the beach’s snack bar or bring food with you to grill at the foreshore’s scenic picnic areas. The foreshore also has shade pavilions, a playground and a skate park. Seasonal facilities include restrooms, showers, an elevator and beach wheelchairs for visitors with disabilities.
Easton’s Beach hosts several special events throughout the year, such as summer concerts, lifeguard tournaments and bonfires.
The beach is located less than 10-minutes’ drive east from Newport’s downtown area. There are two public parking lots located at the beach. Easton Beach is free to visit at any time of the year however, many of the beach’s facilities have seasonal closures during the cooler months.
