"Salthús Guesthouse in Skagaströnd – A Peaceful Icelandic Retreat
This was our second time staying at Salthús Guesthouse, and it continues to be a hidden gem in Iceland. The drive there alone is breathtaking, with stunning views of the landscape. The guesthouse is located near a cliff where you can gaze out at the vast ocean—if you’re lucky, it’s a perfect spot to photograph the aurora borealis. However, keep in mind that it’s a windy area.
A short drive away is Kálfshamarsvík, home to a square-shaped lighthouse surrounded by green grass and basalt columns along the sea. It’s an amazing spot for photos and a must-see for nature lovers.
The guesthouse itself offers comfortable beds and clean, spacious rooms. The two-story building is beautiful, but I recommend contacting the property if you have difficulty with stairs.
For those who love nature and want to escape the crowds, this remote location is perfect. The peace and serenity you’ll feel here are truly unique. Since there aren’t many dining options nearby, be sure to stop at a grocery store and take advantage of the guesthouse’s fully equipped kitchen. Alternatively, the B&S restaurant is a 20-minute drive away, and there’s a nearby seasonal restaurant within walking distance.
If you’re seeking tranquility and a beautiful setting, Salthús Guesthouse is the place to be."
