Location: great.
Character: undeniable.
Bed: hugs you.
This building was built in 1912 and revamped into a hotel with current accents, but not enough to erase the history of the building itself. So keep that in mind when booking. If you prefer new and bougie, look elsewhere.
In saying that, based on MY room and MY experience staying there 3 nights: the original floors creak in some spots, there are typical "gaps" under the doors but do not affect anything (layout of my room did not let in light to affect my sleep), and depending on the layout of your room in relation to neighboring rooms, you can hear doors closing (let's be honest, no one was catching the doors closing just letting them slam close).
Never felt unsafe at any time walking around by myself. Everyone was friendly. Its in a popular area, so there is lots of people shopping, having coffee and going to restaurants. I would definitely go back.
