On any given day, the COEX Convention and Exhibition Center on the World Trade Center Site Seoul may be hosting a conference about new technologies, a trade fair, an exhibition, a political summit, a theater show, or a lavish wedding or cultural festival. This events space also excels in business tourism and hosts a range of attractions and easy links to public transportation.
The building’s exterior is a highlight in itself. Before you enter, admire the Gangnam Style Horse Dance Statue, a pair of large golden hands from the famous K-pop song, and gaze up at the glass atrium.
Inside, visit the American-style pub, seafood buffet restaurant, the art hall, the casino or the massive COEX mall with its giant aquarium, quirky Museum Kimchikan and upmarket cinema.
If you are visiting for a conference or seminar, it may be a good idea to stay in one of its five-star hotels to save time. There is also a range of other hotels nearby, many of which are housed in lofty skyscrapers with amazing city views.
It’s easy to get to the Convention and Exhibition Center by subway, taxi and bus. There are nearby stops for the metro lines 2 (Samseong Station), 7 (Cheongdam Station) and 9 (Bongeunsa Station). Cheongdam station takes you straight into the COEX mall. If you come by car, you can park on site for a fee.
To cater to business visitors in a hurry, COEX has its own check-in service counter for Incheon International Airport. The Coex City Airport Terminal (“CALT”) has a limousine bus service to Incheon International Airport and you can clear immigration and get your duty-free shopping in before heading there.
If you are staying in the northeastern part of Seoul, namely Jungnan-gu, Nowon-gu, Dobong-gu and Seongbuk-gu, COEX limousine buses can pick you up for your conference and drop you off at Incheon and Gimpo International Airports afterwards.
