"It was like our home away from home. The staff welcomed us in like family. They were so kind and celebrated Christmas with us in the lobby with drinks and snacks. We couldn’t say better things about our experience here. Location was perfect to restaurants and sites. Highly recommend! "

"Very warm and approachable staff. We can speak Mandarin, so language was not a problem for us. There is also a lobby security staff there, making us feel very safe. Walking distance (about 5min slow walk) to wangfujing street. And hotel downstairs have a convenient shop as well. Maybe they can consider placing more chairs around the lobby."

"There's a metro entrance just next to the hotel. There are a number of local eateries nearby e.g. there's a comfortable Nan Cheng Xiang outlet just across the hotel where we had cheap and good local breakfast (opens 6am), so we didn't need to hv hotel breakfast at all. Hotel concierge Eric gave great service and arranged tours for us. We communicated via WeChat before arrival and he booked entrance and train tickets for us, and we only pay him after we arrive . Wow! The only complain we have is...

"Location of hotel is easily accessible, yet not too noisy. Wangfujing is within walking distance. Room is kind of small, not much space to place luggage especially if your luggage is big (25inch). Overall cleanliness is acceptable, but do note that the room consistently has smoking smell even for non-smoking room. Room features (e.g. lighting) can be AI controlled, which adds some form of convenience if you speak Mandarin. Still a good choice is you're looking for a hotel based on good location."

"We loved our stay! The hotel is right outside of a subway station, next to multiple malls and shopping areas, which is super convenient. The room itself is huge and well equipped, everything is spotless. Breakfast buffet is great, serving a variety of food options. The gym is large and well equipped. Overall an exceptional experience. "Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Not to mention the variety of breakfast was huge. One day I was late for breakfast and they are already serving lunch, I asked for a togo coffee and they gave it to me free. The area it located has multiple other big hotels too and it makes me feel safe even i was out till mid night. "

Holiday Inn Beijing Deshengmen, an IHG Hotel

"We stayed this hotel for two nights in the hot summer and worried it’s AC and noises. However, everything was cool. The staff were so friendly, they were willing to help us whenever they could. Particularly thanks to Winnie and all the receptionists, they’re professional and warm. The food in the restaurant was adequate and tasty. There are plenty eateries nearby. We had great experience there."

Rundown, dirty & neglected

"Terrible experience: - the hotel is dirty like it was uninhabited for years and then hastily reopened - there is a solid layer of dust around the beds and along the walls. - the scanner is broken so they just take a picture of your passport with their personal phones - Everything is in poor condition. - The staff do not seem to have experience in hospitality; when I arrived they gave me a single room with a broken heater and insisted I had made a reservation for 1 (I had made it for 2 people to get a bigger room). - The “satellite tv” is only five channels and was broken when I got there and for three days until I brought up getting a partial refund. - The smoking ban is not enforced; guests and staff’s friends smoke and I even saw one man put out his butt on a tree - door bolt is easily jiggled open from outside - there is no restaurant or bar - the description photos are all inaccurate, look like they were taken decades ago - the satin coverlet on my bed was smelly. When I told the staff they agreed that it smelled weird and that it was because it had never been washed and never would be washed, like the curtains, because you can’t wash that fabric - the wallpaper is old, sagging, and held up with tape - piles of old newspapers everywhere, much of the hotel used for storage I could go on, but in summary: dirty, barely inhabitable, staff that act like you’re staying in their house, should not be listed on Hotels.com, should be made to update all photos. STAY AWAY"
