Baton Rouge River Center is a multipurpose entertainment center with a year-round schedule of events suitable for all ages. It has a 10,000-plus capacity indoor stadium arena and a 2,000-capacity performing arts theater. Baton Rouge River Center also has a ballroom, exhibition halls and restaurants. It opened in 1977 and has since been a popular venue for concerts, sporting events, trade shows and more.
Music fans can choose between an eclectic mix of concerts by established and up-and-coming musicians at the arena. Past performers include Elton John, Eryka Badu, John Mayer and Miranda Lambert. Concerts are either all-seater or a mix of seats and standing, depending on the act.
The arena hosts sporting events, too. These range from monster truck spectacles to the Harlem Globetrotters and World Wrestling Entertainment wrestling bouts. Laugh and smile at the jokes of stand-up comedians and gaze in amazement at the acrobatics of the Cirque du Soleil dancers. Children will enjoy live shows featuring Disney and Sesame Street characters.
Book tickets for the Theater of Performing Arts to watch interpretations of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, among many world-famous ballets. Enjoy an evening of family fun at Annie and other hit Broadway musicals. Be enchanted by the infectious melodies played by the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra.
Baton Rouge River Center is located to the south of downtown Baton Rouge and on the banks of the Mississippi River. You can get here via public buses and there’s an on-site, metered parking garage.
