However, coming here during the last week of November, we found the entry stairs to be completely covered over with ice (super dangerous), and I mean THICK ice. "On the hillside across the fjord from the airport and town, it was in the middle of having an extension when we were there (boy, Icelandic builders are hardy) so was a little out of sorts. That said, it is kept in immaculate order, and I’m sure the extension will be great. Currently it’s just 8 rooms, and won’t be so much bigger next year, but will have an internal lift so you don’t have to go outside to get to the lower rooms. There isn’t a restaurant, but the breakfast buffet is a good start...

"The first experience we had was not being able to get in the front door. It took 10 minutes. The lock is extremely difficult and hurts your hands to get in with the key. We were glad we were on the ground floor because of getting our suitcase upstairs. The coffee had one cup left in the container so we skipped getting any coffee. This is a nice place overall. The street noise is very loud. You can also hear your neighbors. People can also see in with the blinds that are up in the windows....

"This was a cute little hotel. More like a guest house over a restaurant. The room was lovely and the bathroom decent and clean. There is a shared kitchenette and small lounge area on each floor for guests. The guesthouse is above a cute restaurant with delicious food, and in the main area of Akureyri, so it was very walkable to other restaurants and shops. Parking was easy across the street from the hotel as well and staff were friendly and efficient. "
