The Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA) is Melbourne’s premier contemporary art gallery. The gallery is operated in the Kunsthalle tradition, which means it commissions, rather than collects, art from Melbourne and around the world. As a result, the center’s exhibitions are in a constant state of flux, and with each visit you’ll be in for a completely different experience. The center is the only one of its kind in Australia that operates in this style.The building that houses the center was designed by the Melbourne architectural firm Wood Marsh, and is considered a piece of art itself. The gallery space is comparatively small and typically only one or two exhibitions are held at a time.
