I had one of the worst days of my life at AMS after a missed connection - stuck in lines all day, repeatedly given wrong information and sent to another part of the airport, surrounded by hundreds of angry pssengers similarly stuck, all to find my flight out of Amsterdam would be delayed two days. I picked the closest hotel with a shuttle and a king-sized bed, which was the Ramada.
From the moment my wife and I arrived at the Ramada, we were met with friendliness, competence and convenience. The person at the front desk was warm and helpful, check-in took about 3 minutes, and we were on our way to our room.
The room was amazing! Beautifully decorated, wonderful bed, nice coffee maker, and an incredible view! It was also totally quiet: we couldn't hear anyone else unless they were in the hallway. Great shower/bathroom, comfortable linens on the bed, and just exactly what we needed after the terrible day.
We went to the restaurant downstairs, where they had a buffet. I normally don't like buffets, but this was excellent! Great selection of well-made, delicious food; not crowded, not rushed. There was also a self-service 24 hr snack area, where you could scan and buy food items on your own, which was great for a late-night treat.
When we left 2 days later, we used their shuttle to get to the airport, and that was quick and painless.
I can't recommend this place highly enough! Oh, and the price was on par with like a cheap Motel 6 in the US :)
