"A very pleasant stay in a beautiful area. A good location for walks in the south of the peak district, particularly up to Hen's Cloud and the Roaches, Gradbach Mill and Lud's Church, and a little further away Miller's Dale & Chee Dale gorge. Nice to have a welcoming couple of slices of homemade cake and a jug of fresh milk on arrival. The accommodation was comfortable and had everything we needed. The mobile service (EE) is not the best from within the cottage through the solid stone walls...

"I live near Southampton and run a company based near Stoke and this is my favourite perch; the kitchen lets me eat normally as I tend to keep strange hours. Just right size and facilities for me. Could just as well be a perch for a countryside break. Highly recommended "

"We had a wonderful stay at Curlew Cottage. The location is great with fantastic views over the dales, although the weather was against us a bit. The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped. Everything we needed for self catering was provided. The only thing we would have liked was a mattress topper as my wife and I found the bed a little firm, but that is personal preference. "Very remote and drive very uneven at times. Approach to property on a very steep incline so it might not be for the immobile. Inside the property is lovely and the owners have thought of everything. The only issue we had was there was not enough heating in the living room/open plan kitchen with just two radiators. It is a converted barn with no insulation so it was too cold for us. There is thank goodness a log burner but there were no supplies so the next day we had to go out and buy...
