"We found this place nestled on the waterfront in very say area of Berkeley/ Oakland some time last year but on a quick pass through. I decided to book a weekend, get out of the Humboldt County cold rain and do fun city stuff and got everything we had wished for. Great trails around the Bayfront for a beautiful morning walk. Great if you have a dog or jog in the morning. We avoided the $40 parking parking just outside the gate lot along the trail which was filled with lots of other cars and seemed safe by the absence of glass on the ground that one might expect. The bar/ restaurant are expensive but I guess what isn’t these days and we are on the waterfront in one of the most expensive city areas in the nation. There’s just something that always feels insulting about paying $11 for a beer and upwards of $20 for a cocktail. My only gripes is we booked largely for the beautiful pool use for our teenagers but apparently everyone within a 500 mile radius did the same cuz it was packed every evening to the point my kids refuse to deal with it. The gave it another try in the morning but the pool was out of service due to shock treatment as a result of the gazillion kids in it the day before. The coffee in the lobby was pitiful. It’s a self serve station like you see in every other hotel on earth except it’s. It complimentary, they charge $7 for a 16oz cup and it’s not even good coffee. Other than that, the place is really lovely. "

"Was a fantastic first experience at StayPineapple!! Loved the snacks and fresh coffee in the lobby. WiFi was great! Bed and bedding were next level! Water pressure in shower was amazing. Two things to be transparent about, it’s a renovated older building, noise from streets, hotel neighbors, and the rooftop club next door was a little higher than modern hotel. And the single elevator was slow, but nice staircase is right next to elevator for easy use. "A great boutique hotel with an artistic theme. The price was great for the location in SF and accommodations. Very close to plenty of food options and convenience stores. Enjoyed my stay and would stay there again!"

"The week before we went i saw a number of reviews complaining about the fees at check in and the state of the property. Yeah, they charge a ~$35 per night amenities fee and $100 per night hold for incidentals - that can add up. But the restaurant on site/next door is very good with friendly staff and a nice bar, we ate and drank there a number of evenings out of exhaustion. Also, yes the property is old, that’s part of its funky appeal. If you want to stay at the Marriot it's literally right there; i liked the character of the old building, it was clean and well maintained. I was disappointed by the lack of coffee machine in the room (an important amenity for me) but called the front desk and they brought one right up! We didnt even hear another guest until the last night we were there."
