We were allocated the Allwyn & Little room which we assume is the
Deluxe Double Room, 1 Double Bed, Ensuite, City View which we paid £179 for.
Room was spacious but the bathroom was tired. Damp on the walks, black mold on the window frames and a previous guest body hair in the bath and on the bath mat. Bed was very creaky.
The hotel is old ( which we knew) but does not have double glazed windows. We were woken at 3/4/5 by vehicles outside loading and unloading and managed to get back to sleep at around 5:30am only to be woken again at 7 by the council jet washing the pavement outside our window for 40 mins. We decided to get up and go for a walk as the noise was unbearable. There is no information anywhere that says the room may be noisy, nor did I find any guest reviews advising this. We must have been extremely unlucky. This is not acceptable when paying £179 for a room in any hotel.
The hotel description says that there are views of the cathedral & green. We could not see the cathedral or the green as there was a huge tree outside the window.
The kettle in the room had not been emptied from previous guests and the cupboard that house the condiments was grubby and had tea & coffee stains on it.
The breakfast was good and spent around £180 on drinks & food during our stay.
I am in the hotel business and am meticulous about where I stay when on my personal travels. This was not a good stay and compensation is due as we did not rest.
