My husband and I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Springfield, MO, as I had a medical procedure nearby the next morning. The location was convenient, about 15 minutes from the hospital.
The building looked nice upon arrival, and the guest services team was friendly. The bar and restaurant were busy, which gave a good first impression. However, the elevator could use a thorough cleaning.
Our room was generally nice, but several issues stood out. The bathroom had peeling wallpaper, dirty corners, unclean spots on the vanity, and a worn, discolored mirror frame. The bathroom door also had water spots. Most frustratingly, the window blinds didn’t fully close. The white panel left me feeling exposed and nervous about changing near the window.
We had dinner at the on-site restaurant. While our waitress was friendly, the service was slow, and we waited nearly an hour for our food. Exhausted, we ate a little and took the rest to-go.
While the location and staff were positives, the room’s condition, slow dining service, and lack of privacy with the blinds fell short of Hilton’s standards. All in all, I’d probably give it another shot but try for a suite next time.
