Terrible communication shenanigans
First of all, although the Jan Thiel area overall is nicer, as a resort Blue Bay is great. It’s nice, safe and close to town.
The check in experience was the worst: they weren’t expecting us (even though their own print out said check in on the 16th, they had written 17 on the paper). The property manager was quickly cleaning the unit (it wasn’t dirty but maybe not used for a little while). Worst of all they then told us that at the mid point of our stay we would have to move as somebody else would be given the unit. They claimed to have communicated this via email with Expedia (I know hotels.com is owned by them but this was odd). Of course they couldn’t share email history. I pushed back aggressively and on the day of (as they still had not communicated anything), told them they would have to bring the police as I could prove that I paid for the 3 bedroom villa and wasn’t moving. And of course we had plans that day. So only last minute on the day of, they send me a brief email that we could stay (and we wouldn’t have moved). So next time I would book local for this property to avoid these issues).
