The staff are very commendable, polite and informative. Cleaners, reception and dining staff. The hotel itself is lacking a bit of love. Little things like doors without latches, cracked windows, flushes that take ages to fill the cistern and lack of plug sockets near the beds in some of the rooms. Strange noises around the hotel that, if not a deep sleeper, could keep one awake. If bought back to its original grand state, this hotel could be one of the best around telford/shifnal. Very good value for what you get however. The three course Sunday menu is an absolute must!

Schönes, typisch englisches Hotel. Das Personal war freundlich und hilfsbereit. Frühstück war klein aber total ausreichend, das Abendessen von der Karte fanden wir etwas überteuert. Ansonsten ist die Bar/ Restaurant sehr angenehm in der Atmosphäre.

Acesss to the property was signposted clearly. Plenty of parking. Unfortunately, I wasn't aware that there was a wedding booked during my stay, if I'd have been aware I'd have chosen to stay elsewhere. The hotel bar isn't excluded from wedding guests/their celebrations which made me feel uncomfortable as I and the party I was with felt we were intruding. A guest thought it was a great idea to continue reffing his car showing off for a continuous half an hour around 11pm. I wasn't able to get to sleep till gone midnight as the celebrations went on late & into the early morning. Buffet style breakfast was poor and not worth 12.99, may be worth having someone monitor the buffet continuously so that things don't run out as I and my party had to continuously ask for things and we felt rude. Overall average stay. Must admit the king-sized bed was so comfortable and the shower was incredible. If you're looking for somewhere to just crash I'd recommend but otherwise I would avoid. Very dated and could do with some tlc.

Property is large with ample parking and couple of minites from centre which has plenty going on. Thebrooms are large also, although a little dated, the facilities downstairs have all been recently refurbished and look great. All the staff were welcoming and friendly and the breakfast was great. The only issue we had was when we were checking in, in which we had paid for an early check in, the reception desk was not manned, nobody came to assist for nearly 10 minutes and although we had paid for an early check in for 1pm we didnt get to the room until after 1.15pm, which wouldnt have been too much of an issue but when paying £20 for each room for 2 hours you dont expect to lose the first 15 minutes of this waiting at reception to get served and then waiting to see if housekeeping had the rooms ready. Other than that we had a great stay and would stay again but certainly not be requesting an early check in.

We both had an excellent nights sleep. We both enjoyed the breakfast. Minor problem an the day we were leaving, could not get the shower to give any hot water.

We loved our large bedroom and the bar area, full of character, wood panelling etc. Bathrooms were Ok. Our son’s room was more modern but spacious. We were meeting family so didn’t dine in the evening but the breakfast was the usual fare, a bit dry but what what do you expect when you turn up at 9:45, not many booked in for breakfast apparently. Staff pleasant and helpful. Will stay again.

Inside the hotel the furnishings seemed a little tired in places. When I arrived it was dark and was raining. Most of the carpark was unlit. Being unlit it was difficult to see defined parking spaces. Some lighting on the carpark would have helped.

Very disappointed from what was a lovely hotel
Having used this hotel several times in the past I was very disappointed. Checking in seemed a chore... non of the welcomes I was used to receiving there, while the reception is now a box rather than the airy reception it used to be. The room itself was shabby, no central heating just two oil heaters stuck in the middle of the floor. The bathroom was shabby and it looked as if the floor hadn't been cleaned in weeks. In the restaurant and bar they appeared very short on staff (with two functions on) so service was very slow and laboured. Staff seemed unhappy in those areas. Breakfast staff and check out were fine. Overall very disappointed and won't be back soon.

Very dated hotel. Cold tap running warm water, shower didn’t even get warm. Overall smell of damp in the annexe rooms. Woken by hearing every word said by the neighbour in the next room who was trying to be quiet.

Nice place, a sense of character.
Nice place, lots of character not just a modern chain hotel. Lovely big rooms. A few details could do with updating but overall it had real character. We'd happily stay again.
