Beautiful hotel in the heart of old Savannah, at the corner of historic Liberty and Bull streets, just a couple blocks and walking minutes away from Forsyth Park Fountain, major churches, historic synagogue, restaurants, parks, museums…. I stayed in a corner king room on the 12th floor (Room 1212) with direct views if the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist and the Savanna River and the bridge. The staff was nice except for a waiter in hotel’s 1540 restaurant who was unwelcoming and nasty and wouldn’t stop telling me that I was seated in a “closed section” while I explained that I requested it and was seated by the hostess in that section, so I walked away without having a dinner there. This fine hotel should not have staff like that serving the public.
The room has a fridge and a microwave which was good to have and it was appreciated.
I parked for one night at hotel’s valet parking but then I moved the car to a nearby garage for a cheaper option with a weekly rate if $129.00.
I would recommend the DeSoto Savannah - a truly great place to stay and have fun.
