I was so excited about staying at this property. I’d like to give it a 5 star but for the reason below have given it a 4 star. The hotel looked to be beautiful (Rick Steves highly recommended hotel) but when we checked in they took us to a less desirable location and building down along a different street. The apartment itself was clean and nice but we didn’t get to enjoy the beautiful old hotel. Had the description said it wasn’t in the hotel itself I would not have chosen that room. When we were asked what time we’d like breakfast we said 8:30am the following morning but when we arrived they had no room for us A lovely coulple from Chicago kindly offered to have us join them so that was very generous of them. I think if they know most of their guest are coming for 8:30am they could have suggested coming earlier or later!? Maybe they should physically write down when people are requesting their preference for brrakfast!? The breakfast choices itself were amazing. The staff were friendly etc….but my biggest disappointment would be not physically staying in the gorgeous, old hotel. It was a splurge for us and I was so excited to stay there but was sadly disappointed. So maybe try to confirm the room you’d like and make sure it’s actually in the hotel itself!? The town of Rothenburg Ob Der Tauber was AMAZING! Must see old walled town! We did the night watchman’s tour in the evening and that was fun.

Can’t recommend this hotel highly enough. Greeted with a friendly smile and a bottle of wine on arrival. Quaint hotel located in the heart of old Rothenburg. Super quaint room. Wonderful cooked to order breakfast. Great stay.

Excellent 1,000 year old hotel. We stayed in room 6 on the second floor (ground / first / second). It is spacious with a view over the flower boxes to the Main Street below. It’s a very short walk to the market square. Our stay was in early September so we had a window open at night and the room was a pleasant temperature. Be aware there is no lift / elevator. You will need to get your cases up the stairs. Our room had a shower in a tub and a swinging glass door to contain the water. That door was not great - we got water on the floor and had to quickly sop it up Breakfast was very good - served in the garden. Definitely recommend staying here.

Amazing Old World Experience
Service was amazing! Apple Maps brought me down the wrong road - hotel staff moved my car and brought in the luggage. Room was quaint although a bit dated - and there was no air conditioning. Definitely wasn't one of the nicer rooms. That being said, bed was comfortable and room was stocked with free water, beer and wine. Location is wonderful... and breakfast was tremedous!

Expedia tricked us when chose when I chose this hotel as it stated that it was air-conditioned. When we checked in and it was so hot, I was told that there is only two rooms and they are already occupied, but there is a fan.. it was late in the evening did not argue much. The staff told us that they will leave at 8 o’clock so we went out came back around 930 1030 the electricity cut we had to spend the whole night in a room with no electricity in a very dark place, we cannot charge our phones. We cannot hold the phone. We cannot even use the toilet because it was dark. . As I told you the previous night there is no reception to contact so we had to spend the whole night in a very hot room with no air condition or fan with no lights or anything.. this hotel as part of our celebration for our 38th wedding and anniversary which turned to be the worst night in our trip when we checked out they gave us €100 discount which is unacceptable that’s why I demand from Expedia a total refund since they miss us from the beginning stating that this hotel is air-conditioned which it was not
