「Playa Cativo Lodge is a wonderful place and the accommodations, food and staff were absolutely perfect. It was nice to be so close to the gulf which was calm, warm, sandy and perfect for swimming. My only complaint was that the entire front area of the lodge has been landscaped with grass and ornamental plants, many of which are not native. Because of this large open area few birds or animals come near the lodge. Bird watching was disappointing compared to lodges that have left the rainforest...

「Sympathetically designed hotel giving excellent accommodation coupled with wonderfully maintained garden areas which were full of wildlife. Convenient for Puerto Jimenez airport and town. Very helpful and friendly staff. Great night tours, fishing trips which set off from private jetty were very popular and that was also a great place for a sundowner!」

「Accommodation was simple and there was no room service. However the view and gardens were stunning with large shady trees and it’s right on the beach. Swimming good- just need to walk out a bit at low tide. Quiet with good privacy and great restaurant a short stroll down the beach.Birds were amazing, monkeys every day, sloths, crocodiles across the road. Jetty for tours within walking distance. Hosts delightful.」

「We can’t comment a lot because we arrived late and left early for Corcovado. My Mom had an uneasy feeling about the place. The check in was easy and there was someone available to open the gate early when we left at 5am.」

「Beautiful rainforest property with good birding opportunity, birds song, cicadas, and frogs, but "touristy", so the natural vibe gets ruined. It seems they cater to tour groups, so not very private or queit. Have to pay for 3 meals a day but on their schedule that's too late for serious birding and not as healthy as I'd prefer. I travel solo and do not enjoy sitting by myself or wasting time I could be out finding birds sitting in a restaurant. I go ut birding before daybreak so, lunch as late...
