I was welcomed by the owner. I didn’t realize that the family lived at the property. There was a table where two girls were doing homework. The mother was sitting in the couch. My room appeared clean. Went to bed only to be woken up by screaming. People were having an argument downstairs and there was loud music playing. This went on until past 4am. Next morning, I wake up to a dead cockroach on the floor. I tried to talk to the owner several times during the day. I was left with an attendant who only spoke Dutch, so I couldn’t communicate with her. She was pleasant and apologetic for not being able to communicate. Since I arrived at night, I didn’t well where I was staying until I decided to get some food. The area is a little sketchy. I came back to the room and locked myself there. I came downstairs on my third attempt, to find the owner sleeping on the couch. I asked if I could only pay for 2 nights instead of 4 since I didn’t have a good night. He acted surprised about the noise when he knew full well about their noise. He told me that I had to pay for the entire stay since he needed to pay the Expedia group. He also said: let’s see about tonight. What? I contacted customer service and they tried to reach out to him and they got no answer. I decided to leave the place having to pay for the full stay. I preferred to feel safe and not worry about a cockroach crawling into my ear.
