Let me start by saying that I love the Hudson hotel and usually stay at the Hudson hotel when in NYC and have been doing so for over ten years. I’ve even booked multiple rooms at the hotel on the few occasions that I’ve had employees in New York for conferences.
On this trip, I came to NYC for a date weekend and paid in advance for a Queen Studio Suite. When we arrived, we were told that all of the Queen suites were booked and that we could get a room that had two double beds. Because it was a couples weekend, we were not interested in two double beds.
Because we did arrive early, I asked the front desk clerk if anyone would be checking out of a Queen suite later, and the clerk replied that a room was becoming available and that it needed to be cleaned. She asked if we would come back around 2 pm, so we could get the Queen Suite.
At 2, we returned to only be told that the queen suite was now unavailable again. When I asked why, I was told that preference was given to someone who booked directly through their hotel reservation system. This disappointed me, because I am such a regular visitor at the hotel and have spent tens of thousands of dollars there previously.
I’ll be back, but was pretty disappointed with my very lackluster service and support on this trip. Lesson learned: don’t assume you’ll get the room you pay for at the hotel.
