We are currently planning a wedding in the area, with many of our family and friends coming in from out of town. We wanted to stay at The Hotel Landing to see if it might be a good fit for our guests to reserve a block.
Long story short - the experience is not worth the cost. Is it a perfectly nice hotel? Sure. Is it worth the many hundreds of dollars per night that they charge? Definitely not. As you’ll come to see, the theme for this property is “prepare to pay extra.”
Let’s start on the good: the location is nice, plenty of shops around and right on Lake Minnetonka. But, plan to pay quite a bit extra for a view of the lake from your room.
The building itself is new and in good shape with a decent restaurant in the lobby. The rooms are a bit small, so I paid extra for a “junior suite.” I have to tell you, a suite it is not. The bedroom side of the room was quite cramped by a false wall that separated the bed from the sitting area - which only consists of two small chairs and a tv. It would have been much better if they just billed it as a normal room and took down the unnecessary wall.
The bathroom was quite nice, excellent flooring, lighting, and a nice large shower.
The biggest issue we identified was the bed. The mattress was a bit thin and soft, the pillows were limp, and the mattress springs were very loud. Every time my fiancée moved, I woke up. Neither of us slept well and we left in the morning feeling tired.
We won’t recommend Hotel Landing to our guests.
