The outside looks very dated, paint is peeling off building, and there isn’t a typical door arch for if it’s raining. Just a door that’s flush against the building. I wasn’t even sure the place was open. But sometimes the outside is misleading.
Going inside, They had modernized the desk area, which made me feel better about the booking. Person at desk was friendly. First issue: no elevator at the entrance. I had to take luggage up two flights of stairs, and they were painted brown, an obvious safety hazard if you can’t see well in the dark. Person at desk said there was an elevator at the back of the hotel.
The room I was given looked good at first, they’d modernized the sink and furniture, but the tub metal fixture was rusty. The tub itself had standing water in it and wasn’t draining. I went down the long stairs and asked for another room. Person at desk was friendly and got me another without issue.
Second room was better, no rusty tub metal, furnishings were new looking. TV was on when I got there, and I got the remote to shut it off. It kept turning back on until I felt underneath the TV and turned it off manually: minor. Bed was much more firm than expected, but after over 700 miles, it didn’t bother me. It was smoke free as advertised, and bedding was clean.
The free breakfast is very spartan, nothing made fresh. I saw cereal, juice, a waffle machine, toast / bagels and yogurt. Two yogurts and an orange juice were good enough for me.
