Checking in felt like we were an inconvenience. We were led through to the main hotel exit and pointed to the building across the street. Seems like those staying in the Guesthouse across the street rather than the main hotel are second class citizens.
The elevator carpet was disgusting and as not cleaned in the three days we were there.
The bathtub and bathroom floor needed a good scrubbing.
The large window over looked a courtyard (at the same level on the second floor, and there were a few guys sitting there who could easily see right in to our room, so as two females that was uncomfortable and we had to keep our curtains closed the whole time we were there.
You scan a QR code to get access to their services online. We wanted a couple of extra pillows (there’s only two provided for two people and with nowhere to sit other than the bed, two pillows per person are more comfortable). I requested them through the site as indicated. We went out for the rest of the afternoon and retuned after dinner. No extra pillows were brought so I had to go get them.
Lastly, they use motion sensor lighting, which is great for the obvious reasons, however, lighting is critical, particularly on stairs. I took the stairway one evening and almost fell in a dark spot.
I highly recommend Interlaken—it’s absolutely beautiful. But I would not stay here again.
