「Lovely stay. The staff was great! Everyone went out of their way to be kind and helpful, even helping when our plans to tour local sites got messed up by a very heavy winter storm that caused power outages. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was a bit pricey, but excellent quality and our servers could not have been better. Breakfast every morning was delicious and, again, our server was lovely. Would recommend this hotel if touring Derbyshire area. 」

It felt like such a genuine, honest, real place - somewhere we could relax and breathe easily, in contrast to the massive chain hotel we had just been staying in in Liverpool, where sheer numbers of guests led inevitably to a dehumanized, mass-produced feel. Here we were real people in a real place eating real food and sleeping in a real room with character and personality. The towels were folded into the shape...

「The room was as you would expect for the money. The major disappointment was the lack of a blind for the skylight which meant the room was very light until quite late and then again from early, a nightmare for trying to get children to sleep.」

Decor is quirky downstairs in pub and even worse in bedroom but the facilities are there. I did not mind it upstairs, lived it downstairs.」
