Before this stay, this had been one of my favorite hotels in the area. It still has nice rooms, friendly front desk staff, a good-looking lobby, and fairly tasty breakfast.
However, the imposition of a parking fee (on Long Island, where parking abounds) is one of the most tone-deaf business decisions that Hyatt could have made. It was extremely unpleasant to start my stay having to try to connect to a Texas-based app that was literally impossible to use without a smart phone -- even when I tap tap tapped my way to the site on my flip phone, it wouldn't let me type in my credit card information. The front desk clerk said she also feels bad for the guests who have to go out in bad weather to ascertain the license plate of a rental car. This cash grab just comes across as an example of corporate greed and has made me re-think whether I want to stay here. There are plenty of other great options in the area as well.
On another note, this hotel is not great in cold weather. The lobby was freezing, and there seemed to be some kind of leak down my window that I assume was caused by the cold weather -- the window got wet on the inside, and there was a whole puddle on top of the heater by the window.
