My husband and I, along with our 2 dogs, were traveling to Onawa, IA. We booked a room in Missouri Valley because there were no rooms available in Onawa and we picked this hotel because it said that it was pet friendly. We even booked the room marked pet friendly. Once we arrived we were told we were not allowed to stay here because 1 of our dogs looked like she exceeded the 50 lb weight limit. DO NOT ADVERTISE THAT YOU ARE PET FRIENDLY IF YOU DONT ADVERTISE YOU HAVE A WEIGHT LIMIT. Once the very VERY rude man working said he didn't have a scale and couldn't prove that our dog was over 50 pounds he decided we could stay. I gave him my ID, we just moved to FL but my ID still shows Onawa, he looked at me and said "well can't you just stay in your house"? Like, why does where I live matter to your hotel or staff? If I live in Missouri Valley and want to stay at the hotel, I can. American Best Value Inn, do better! It's 2024, either allow pets or don't but having pet owners jump through hoops just to spend the night is absolutely ridiculous. I will not be staying here again. I will sleep in my car with my dogs before giving you a dime of my money again!
