I recently stayed at the Sofitel in Chicago and had an experience that, unfortunately, did not meet my expectations, especially considering the price. I upgraded my room for an additional $100, but after being in the room for about three hours, I realized the heat wasn’t working. The thermostat read 67 degrees, and the room felt quite cold. When I contacted maintenance, the worker arrived with a rather cavalier attitude and claimed the heat was working, despite the fact that the room remained uncomfortable for hours.
Eventually, we were moved to a different room, which was warmer and had functional heat, but it was a hassle to gather all our luggage and move to the new room. This was a significant inconvenience, especially given the premium price of over $500 for one night, including the $100 upgrade fee.
On the positive side, the hotel itself is beautiful, and the staff were kind and welcoming. But overall, I didn’t feel that I received the value I expected. Unfortunately, the issues with the room really overshadowed the experience, and in the end, I didn’t feel it was worth the cost.
