Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness 2 Stars Hotels

"We stayed as a family in the double room suite, which is a nice set up for a family with two teenagers, but still quite pricey for an off-season basic motel room, IMO. We appeared to be about the only people in the motel! Which was actually great for my kids in the large pool, hottub and sauna, which is really why we were there. The only problem was the sauna took forever to heat up (and it didn't get too hot) and same with the hot tub, which was not much more than a lukewarm bathtub, but...

"I really enjoyed all the little seating areas that we could use to sit and enjoy a game, or a cup of coffee outside the room. Everyone was so nice, and I loved that the continental breakfast had oatmeal!"

"Very nice rustic option for those not wanting to pay the standard resort prices on the north shore. Great location on the north side of Lutsen with easy access to the Superior Hiking Trail. We stayed in the motel section. The rooms are a little outdated but great for the price! Each has a small kitchenette that provides the option of some easy meals in the room. "We were looking for a last minute stay for skiing. We were arriving after the front desk closed and they reached out with after hours check in instructions. Great location! Great Value! Would definitely stay again."

"The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. I read a lot of reviews on here about rooms being outdated or loose light sockets. Really? I've stayed in hundreds of hotels and I know there are no 4 star hotels in Grand Marais. Know your area and people research where your going. Keep your expectations reasonable. Expedia is full of whiny premadonnas. "
